Goh Kim Leong
It is with sadness that I came to know of the passing away of Mr Goh Kim Leong. Mr Goh was the Deputy Chairman in SBC appointed in 1990 to replace Mr Cheng Tong Fatt. He was then Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information. He had earlier on joined to head the Education Review Committee chaired by Dr Goh Keng Swee. The committee report started the milestone of one important phase of Singapore's educational system..streaming and enabling those unable to continue to be educated at own pace. He subsequently became Permanent Secretary of Education and also of the Law Ministry.
At that time I was not in a senior position to work with him closely. But in the process of managing the studios I had several encounters with him. I know him to be a soft spoken person, very kind and rarely a hash word for staff. At that time Moses Lee was the General Manager and whenever we had general meeting we could see that he got on very well with him and Management. He was a well-liked person. And one of his strengths was the emphasis on good English especially in the written form.
My deepest condolences to Mrs Goh and family.
Rest in Peace Mr Goh.

I had the privilege of working with him in the early 90's. A thinker and a gentleman. Not a "politician".
RIP
